DR. DAVID L. GOVENER, M.Div, Ph.D, LPC (Executive Director): David completed his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Nyack College in Nyack, New York. He completed his Masters of Divinity degree at Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, NY in 1996, with an emphasis in Biblical Counseling. He later completed his doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2001 at the University of Louisiana-Monroe to receive his Ph.D., wherein the topic of his dissertation research was the work of Don D. Jackson’s interactional theory and the implication of it on the practice of family therapy. David is licensed by the state of Louisiana LPC board as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
DR. MOLLY R. GOVENER, Ph.D., LPC: Molly has a Master of Arts degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University which she received in 2001. She completed the doctoral program at the University of Louisiana-Monroe in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2006 to receive her Ph.D., wherein the topic of her dissertation research was an analysis of the work of the Gregory Bateson Research Project on Schizophrenia. Molly has presented both nationally and internationally on the work of the Bateson team, and has published several articles on the topic in academic journals both in the U.S. and in Europe. Molly is licensed by the state of Louisiana LPC board as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
KIMBERLY M. AARON, M.A., LPC intern, MFT intern: The newest addition to David Govener Counseling, Kim received her Masters of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana-Monroe (ULM). Kim has completed her coursework in the doctoral program in Marriage and Family Therapy at ULM and will earn her degree after the completion of her dissertation research on adolescent substance abuse. Kim is working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor and as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and is listed with the State of Louisiana LPC board as a registered intern for both licenses.
AMY SIMMERMAKER, EOA: Amy is the Executive Office Assistant at David Govener Counseling, and will likely be the first person you see when arriving at our office. Amy was born and raised in Monroe, LA, and a graduate of local Neville High School. Amy is also a 2000 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe where she received her B.A. in Liberal Arts. |
